I've just experienced this serious issue today, and there was no way of manually ejecting the beans due to the fact that my machine is one of the first units made without an Emergency Eject knob at the rear of the unit, which you pull to manually eject the roast.
It ruined the roast, and I was in a state of panic wondering if the beans would catch fire, as there was a serious lack of fan speed and timer to cool those beans quicker within the roasting chamber as they couldn't be dropped into the cooling tray!
For those looking at purchasing this roaster, ensure you have the later unit with the manual Emergency Eject knob at the rear of the roaster; look for these models:
KN-8828B-2K and "P-2K" and "B-2" and "P-2" models.
Do not be fooled by the LCD panel which may have been upgraded to the full display with the P on the end of the model number as I did!
